The Streetcars of old LA

In my research into Boyle Height's past, a single image repeatedly pops up.

The LA Red Car and Pacific Electric railway systems are some of the single most recognizable icons of pre WWII Los Angeles. They're a huge influence on modern LA's plans for revitalizing public transportation. Boyle Heights was one of the main stops from downtown on the streetcar system. Jump forward to the current LA Metro and Metro Rail systems, the additional stops on the Metro Gold Line completely bypass Boyle Heights.
