Umberto Eco’s Image Puzzle

During his lecture, “How I Write,” at Emory University on October 5th, renowned scholar and author Umberto Eco explained that he begins his novel-writing process with two mental images—one for the story’s beginning, the other for the end. He then devises a narrative to link these images. Once this task is complete, he has written a novel.

  1. Website advertising the United Nations Restaurant....the literalization of your newly discovered metaphor.

Known as the common ground for all the world’s people, the United Nations provides an uncommon setting for your important celebrations and meetings. In the Delegates Dining Room, the UN’s tenets of security, peace, cooperation, friendship, respect and harmony come to life over good food and conversation.

UN Tours are available for a glimpse into the everyday life of the United Nations. Your UN guide, attired in either native dress or the Mondrian-designed official uniform, will take you and your group to the General Assembly, the Security Council Chamber and other places where history is made daily.
